Generate Energy From Thin Air Well Sunlight Anyway!

By Peter Mason

Solar power is nothing new, in fact it's been around for about a hundred years! There are many important facts that you should know about solar power, especially if you are looking at installing such a system. There are lots of different facts, it can be very difficult to work out which ones are correct, and which ones are false. You should learn all of the important facts about solar power before you decide whether such a system suits your needs.

Important Solar Power Energy Facts

Solar panels collect sunlight in order to convert it into electrical energy. This means that these panels will not generate any electricity at night. However saying that it's a completely renewable form of electricity which will not go away for a long time. Solar power does not create any pollution, which is why it's so popular with people that are trying to be environmentally friendly.

Solar power has other uses other than just generating electricity, they are commonly used to heat water, as well as run electrical appliances. Some cars are even powered by solar panels.

So if solar panels are so great why hasn't everyone already switched to start using these? Well that's probably mainly because they are very expensive. The cost associated with installing the panels can be very off putting.

In order to generate enough power to run everything you need, you will need to cover a large space of your roof with solar panels. Depending on where you live you may need more or less solar panels.

Once you have installed the solar panels, they are not really very expensive to maintain. The energy from the sun is completely free, and the panels themselves last for a very long time. If you can produce more electricity than you need you might even be able to sell some of this extra electricity back to your utility company.

Solar power is a great technology as it lets you make your home completely independent from the utility companies. You don't have to pay utility companies for the electricity which can rise at any cost.

To run a solar power system you don't need to be connected to any of the other utility companies. You can't use solar power to generate electricity at night because there is no sunlight. You have two options for when the solar panels are not generating enough electricity. You can use additional forms of electricity, or you can use batteries to store the solar energy.

Solar panels are suitable for installation in remote locations where there is no other way of getting power there. If you ever need more power you could simply add new panels.

There are cars available that run on solar power, however these are not suitable for general use. In principle solar powered cars are ideal as you would never have to fill up with gas, and the maintenance costs of panels and electric motors is minimal.
