Use Brainstorming To Mine For Your Creative Treasures!

By Jan R. Hunt

Brainstorming has the ability to help you uncover creative depths you never knew you had, that can help you find the answers to many of life's problems. Problems that you face not just in your private life, but at work to.

I mean, let's face it; we all have to make choices everyday, even when we don't want to. And the bummer is, if we don't make those choices then guess what? They will be made for us!

Sadly, these choices we make don't come with a guarantee! That is, a lot of the choices we make will be the wrong ones. But that's part of life and the worst thing you can do is become so scared of making a bad choice that you don't make any - because as sure as snow is cold someone will make that choice for you! And you know what, that is giving away control over your life and you don't want that.

But you know what? There is a solution and it's called brainstorming. Brainstorming is a phrase that conjures up images of late night caffeine fueled sessions, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Brainstorming works because it simply allows your creativity to work in tandem with your logic. This basically means that you can increase your brains rate of productivity as it were, ensuring that you fully use all your minds potential.

Brainstorming is also sometimes called lateral thinking because it teaches and allows you to move your thinking out of it's normal groove, and into a new one. This is done in a very focused manner so that you can begin to generate creative ideas that are also useful ideas.

The process offers some very powerful benefits, such as;

* Begin to uncover ideas that are as precious as gold. Once you learn to mine these at will you will be amazed at how creative you become

* Learning to think "outside of the box" so that you can train your mind to approach problems from different perspectives

* Start to find solutions to problems from places you never expected, as your brain becomes more elastic and adaptable

The ability to use brainstorming can benefit any of us, from any walk of life. Of course businesses use it very successfully, but it can also be used by families, individuals and classrooms. Do you have a pressing personal problem? If appropriate, why not brainstorm it?

Ultimately, brainstorming is all about new thinking - cultivating that valuable skill to come up with solutions at will. Do you think a lot of people could benefit from this skill? Once you learn how to do this properly, all sorts of opportunities open up to you as you begin to unleash the power of your creativity.

This is the usual situation - you are in your work place and you mention an idea to your workmate, He adds to it and all of a sudden you are looking at your problem in a whole new way. That's great, but imagine when you do it with a group, in the right atmosphere...

The whole group is beginning to buzz like a hive full of bees as ideas and solutions spill out onto the white-board. The whole group is energized as problems that once loomed large seem to become puny and manageable. This is the "Brainstorming Ride" and you will find out that it can be the most amazing experience ever!

So the next time you are waiting for inspiration, seeking the muse or just looking to get a unique angle on the report you're writing, why not put it to the brainstorming test? As you start digging out those gems in your subconscious, you'll be amazed at what you have in you!
